Darlene’s Cake
Chocolate Cake with 
a Brown Sugar Icing

3 cups flour 
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt 

1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup oil
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 cups cold water

Mix the first five dry ingredients and then make 4 wells for the other four other mixed liquid ingredients.
Beat by hand, do not use electric mixer
Do not grease the baking pan (9" x 13")
Bake at 325-F for 35 minutes.

Brown Sugar Icing
Bring to a boil:
1-1/3 cups brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons milk
Take off of heat and add:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Beat with electric mixer until it thickens.

Pour over and spread on cooled cake
