GROUND TURKEY CHILI - STOVE OR CROCK POT
Lower Fat Chili Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound ground turkey
3/4 cup bell peppers, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 cups water
16 oz. can crushed tomato,
8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cube chicken flavor bouillon
5 tablespoon mild chili powder
3 can kidney beans, 15 oz. each
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cumin
1 tablespoon vinegar
4 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Method
In a 6-8 qt. stock pot, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and water. Place pot over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, bouillon cubes, chili powder, cumin, vinegar, salt and garlic. Add drained beans and stir. Cook covered under a medium low heat stirring frequently.
In a fry pan; add chopped green pepper and onions to two tablespoons olive oil and slightly brown them. Add this to the cooking pot and stir it in.
Using the now empty fry pan, add two tablespoon olive oil, turkey and
1-1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil, mash turkey into little pieces as it cooks with a potato masher. Lower heat to medium and fry turkey until no longer pink and water is gone, add this to the cooking pot, stir and cover pot. Set on low heat for 2 to 3 hour stirring frequently, add more water if needed.
*Optional Place everything in a crock pot and cook till done.
Serve in bowls and let each person add salt and pepper or crackers.
