CHIPPED BEEF RECIPE - On the shingle
Cream Chipped Beef - SOS over Toast
*You can also use fried ground beef in place of dried beef

4½ oz of dried beef, can or package. 
Optional: Soaking beef in water for 24 hours in refrigerator will soak out a lot of salt
1-1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup water
3/4 stick butter
1/2 cup of chicken broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup flour
Black pepper
NO salt 
6 slices toasted bread

Melt butter in in a small fry pan, add flour and whisk in flour to form a roux 

In a bowl: add the milk, water, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper to taste. 

Now transfer everything (except dried beef) to a large enough saucepan, stir rapidly and bring to a medium boil making sure the flour has dissolved and sauce has thickened. Reduce heat to a very low simmer. Now add the dried beef (throwing away the water used for soaking.) Continue to simmer everything for 15 minutes stirring often. Thin with water if needed. 

Spoon over dry cold toast
