Baked Stuffing Bread Dressing

2 (10 oz) Boxes Seasoned Stuffing Dressing (20 oz will equal 16 cups)
1 lb Jimmy Dean sage sausage.
1-1/4 cups butter or margarine, melted
2 cups chicken broth
1-1/2 cups celery, chopped
1 cup onion, minced
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cup plain apple sauce (this will add flavor and keep dressing from drying out)
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup golden yellow raisins (optional)

Fry sausage with 1 cup water until no longer pink. Use a potato masher to break it up into small pieces.
Now mix everything together, add small amounts of water if needed to make the stuffing a little pasty.
Bake in a greased baking dish or baking pan at 350-F for 30-40 minutes or until piping hot.

Serve as a side dish or with poultry and pork.
