Ingredients and Preparation:
Use Cuban Bread loaf, sliced in half horizontally, Cuban bread is a fairly simple white bread, similar to French bread and Italian bread, but has a slightly different baking method and ingredient list (in particular, it generally includes a small amount of fat in the form of lard or vegetable shortening); it is usually made in long, baguette-like loaves.
Brush the CRUST lightly with butter or olive oil
Spread a coat of yellow mustard on the bread
Add roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss cheese (Optional: Genoa salami) and thinly-sliced dill pickles added in layers
When assembled, the sandwich can be toasted in a sandwich press called a Plancha, which is similar to a Panini press but without grooved surfaces. The Plancha both heats and compresses the sandwich, which remains in the press until the bread surface is slightly crispy and the cheese is melted. It can also be hand pressed with an object to flatten both sides on a grill as it toasts. It is usually cut into diagonal halves before serving
