Thick syrup topping for ice cream and other desserts
3/4 cup table sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk (canned evaporated milk works very well)
2 tablespoons Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder
4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine sugar, cocoa and cream.
Cook on high 2-3 minutes, until sugar dissolves stirring constantly, add butter and cook on high until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt.
This can also be done in a saucepan on a stove top (medium high heat) and stirring as it boils to keep from scorching the sugar in it.
